Crew Start First of Two Games in Four Days Out West
By: Matt | April 1st, 2009After two disappointing draws to start their season, the Crew are heading West looking to get their first win of the season. On Thursday night, the Crew make their first visit to the new Rio Tinto Stadium, home of Real Salt Lake at 9 PM Eastern. Then Sunday the Crew travel to LA to take on Chivas USA at 8 PM Eastern. The Royals have also had a slow start to their season after suffering a lose in their first and only match of the season to the expansion Seattle Sounders. The match will be the feature MLS match of the week on the World Wide Leader in Sports…part 2 (ESPN 2). After two decent performances that only resulted in draws, the Crew will be looking to get their first win of the season. The Black and Gold will be hopefully buoyed by the return of the players missing last weekend due to international duty. Hopefully Frankie Hejduk and Alejandro Moreno will be able to add what seemed to missing last Saturday. Combine that with a healthy Robbie Rogers and the Crew should be a better squad than what was on the field against Toronto. Of course, this all seems to depend on whether Hejduk and Moreno play in there national squad’s midweek matches. A full squad Crew team should easily beat RSL, but if that is not the case it could become an interesting match in Salt Lake City.
