Boy, when it rains, it pours. After a week off to heal up and get the squad that was last year’s MLS Cup champs back to full strength, another piece of the puzzle will be missing at least for this week and possibly more time after that. It seems starting keeper Will Hesmer suffered a knee injury during the Crew’s 1-1 draw against Colorado two weeks ago. Hesmer has undergone two MRIs since then and did not practice yesterday. Coach Robert Warzycha said that Hesmer was “very, very questionable” for Saturday’s match against Chicago. In other injury news, both Robbie Rogers and Chad Marshall were full participants in Wednesday’s training session and should be good to go when the Fire come to town. Frankie Hejduk did some running in today’s practice and his status for the weekend will be determined later this week according to the Polish Rifle.
On the lighter side of things, while I have twice posted pictures of scantly clad females (perhaps shameless trying to garner readers?), I do not want the ladies of Crew Nation to feel like I have ignored them. I have become aware that our very own Robbie Rogers was picked as a “Hot Soccer Guys” by the well respected literary and political magazine CosmoGirl (No, I don’t browse CosmoGirl’s website, it was on BigSoccer, but thanks for asking…dick). If you browse to pictures 29 and 30, you can see our tasty winger here and learn such interesting tidbits such as Big Bob is from Huntington Beach, is single, can be intimidated by athletic girls, and wants “the whole package” in a girl. You can also see Robbie’s best “blue steel” impression, like in the photo above. You might also notice that former Crew player Brad Evans is also on the list, to which I ask, really? Brad Evans?

Okay, first, I really don’t look at guys of this age in that kind of way. But I do have to say: Could they possibly have found a photographer to make these gents look more dorky? I think not.
And it’s not even adorkable dorky. It’s just…dorky.
Not sure how this is good publicity for MLS. Is all I’m sayin.

From what I gathered, it seems like they had local media sources take the photos, or at least for Robbie. I know a photographer from Columbus Alive took Big Bob’s photos. I can’t claim to know what females that read CosmoGirl are into, but is dorky dudes it?
