Opening Day Closing in…
By: TrivDaddy | March 5th, 2008I’ve been absent from posting all winter, but I’m back! I’m ready for the Crew to start anew and overcome some hurdles of last season. This is just a quick post but I found a thread on big soccer that caught my attention.
So the Toronto front office is limiting the sales of visitors tickets? I figure they can do what they want, but how does a rivalry involving a cup benefit from the restricting of fans from opposing teams? I can’t understand this. If the stadium is completely sold out, that is one thing, but to limit outsiders, it’s a shame. I hope that we can send TFC with their appoximately 2000 fans invading our stating back home that opening day and never allow that many opposing fans in our stadium again! I know, wishful thinking, but I’d hope that it would be Columbus fans that squeeze out the visitors, not the front office.

Hey Triv, good to have you back. We need news out of Colombus! Schelotto and Nico have the potential to tear it up this year.

Yeah, we’ll see how that combo works out. I’m pretty optimistic about them and this season.

Everyone seems to be making such a huge deal about this but no one brings up the fact that we don’t know how many away fans are even interested in attending. I mean there’s no point in setting aside more than a hundred tickets if no one is going to show up. Also it has nothing to do with them not wanting a rivalry but it’s a reflection of how small the park. They sold out 16500 season tickets and it’s tough to find a TFC fan who isn’t on the waiting list, they need those tickets to allow their own fans to attend the games.

Having said that, best of luck to columbus this season although looking at their squad i don’t think they’ll need it. Iro is underrated I think he’s going to step up in a huge way, and not enough can be said about schelotto he’s too good.

Well, I’ll be honest, the Crew had some attendence issues at home, let alone away games. We had some increase in season tickets so far this off season. I hope that keeps going. If TFC had that many season tickets sold… well done. If that is the reason for the lack of visitor tickets, I can understand. I just heard some rumblings and thought I’d bring it up.
